Castriz is part of the Corcel project, which was acquired by Eurobattery Minerals in 2019. The project is located in the mining-friendly jurisdiction of Galicia, northwest Spain, near the town of La Coruña. The rock types at Corcel are ultramafic and mafic layered intrusive rocks which are known to host Ni-Cu-Co ore deposits.

Works on the Castriz-target on the Corcel-project well under way

Castriz – The Company’s main target at Corcel

Historical exploration activities in the 1980s, which included geophysics, soil and rock sampling, trenching and drilling, confirmed an extensive area of rock prospective for Ni-Cu-Co mineralisation. Based on these results, Eurobattery Minerals has identified high-grade massive sulphide targets, potentially suitable for selective underground mining, in addition to large tonnage targets potentially amenable to bulk tonnage mining.

The Company’s main target at Corcel is the Castriz prospect which was identified in the 1980s as the area with the highest prospectivity. The historical soil sampling and trenching identified a large area of mineralisation. These anomalies were partly drill tested and confirmed the presence of disseminated and massive sulphides. Critically, the nickel and copper mineralisation consists of the sulphide minerals pentlandite and chalcopyrite, respectively. These minerals are highly sought after for producing the intermediate products used in the EV battery manufacturing.
